STAR OF THE TRIP

Blue-capped Kingfisher MOVIE

See below for a first set of photographs made on our recent Philippines trip.

Chinese Egret - Palawan. The flock is near Rasa Island
Nowadays the Palawan Peacock Pheasant is very confiding:
Yet difficult to photograph due to the poor light conditions in the forest.
On of the highlights of this trip was this Red-bellied Pitta in Rajah Sikatuna (Bohol).
This is the recently discovered juvenile Philippine Eagle on Mount Katanglad. Very big and impressive indeed. We were told that this bird was about 4 months old.
A more traditional view of a Philippine Eagle: far away on the other side of the hills.
White-cheeked Bullfinches were an easy find on Mount Katanglad during our stay.
Apo Myna must be the most charming myna in the world. They showed well on Mount Katanglad
A lucky find on Mount Katanglad was this Mountain Shrike.
A more common bird on Mount Katanglad: Mountain Verditer Flycatcher.
Indeed the star of our trip, this beautiful Blue-capped Wood Kingfisher, close to the nest of the Philippine Eagle at Mount Katanglad.
A Besra at Mount Katanglad
Common but very charming, this Orange-bellied Flowerpecker at PICOP.
A less common Philippine endemic: Olive-backed Flowerpecker at PICOP
Barred Honey-buzzard at PICOP.
Rufous Hornbill, still fairly common in PICOP but for how long...?
Another great kingfisher: a male and female Rufous-lored Kingfisher.
This tiny and extremely charming Silvery Kingfisher is easily found in PICOP.
Luzon Water Redstart near Banaou on the island of Luzon.
An extremely blur pic of four Green-faced Parrotfinches. This was another good year for this species at Hamut.
Blue-throated Bee-eater.
Whiskered Treeswift.
