Loxahatchee Wildlife Management Area was our last attempt to find Smooth-billed Ani. Unsuccessful but it's another great area for photographing wildlife.

Not only birding can be exiting in Florida.
There's a lot of reptiles to be found including a large amount of species
of tortoises. Actually I don’t have a clue as to which species this
is. |

I used to identify butterflies in Europe
too, but since I went further abroad I stopped identifying them, I just
enjoy them now. This species is a Queen (Danaus gilippus - thanks
Urs Geiser!) |
This Tricolored Heron kind of sat in the
water before we approached, probably for cooling off a bit. I was rather
hot during our visit. |
The Mottled Duck is rather boring. The
male in front pretty much resembles the female in the back. |
The Anhinga is widespread, common and
tame. Most allow close approach for pictures like this. |
